You know, there are several things that I could say I hate about my body, but here is one thing I love about it: It knows better than to get really sick when I have something to do. Seriously. My first year of teaching, I felt icky from early on. But I had school M-F, football on Saturday, and church then lesson planning on Sunday. Who has time to be sick?!? But I remember the first Saturday that wasn't a home game that season, I woke up and thought I had been hit by a train. I laid in bed all day, but my Sunday afternoon I was good to go. Last Thursday, I started feeling like a cold was coming on. But I had work to do, bunko to plan, and two cavities to get filled (I kept having a fear of sneezing when everyone's hands were in my mouth). Again, no time to be sick. Yesterday, two cavities, no sneezing. Last night maybe my best Bunko ever. Today I woke up at 730 with horrible dry mouth (because I'd been sleeping with my mouth open so I could breathe), sore throat, coughing and sneezing. It's like my body was waiting until it was convenient for me to really get sick. Which I think it owes me, especially after giving me my love of carbs & not giving me the metabolism to burn them off... So if you need me today, I'll be on the couch eating soup. And leftover croissants from bunko.
